K-pop girl group FIFTY FIFTY opened up about the global success of their song "Cupid".
In the ever-expanding realm of K-pop, the groups and artists who make it big just a few months after their debut are usually (but not always) those from big companies. If not, they usually have a few famous members. But Girl group FIFTY FIFTY has neither of those. Still, they managed to surmount these obstacles to become one of K-pop's biggest breakout stars of 2023, thanks to the viral success of their song, Cupid. It's a success story that reads like a fairytale.
Fifty Fifty is a girl group of four members - Saena, Aran, Keena, and Sio. They were formed under Attrakt and debuted in November 2022 with the EP, THE FIFTY. Even though their debut album didn't top the charts, it was well-received by critics. Korean music magazine IZM gave it a 4.5 out of 5, the highest rating they have ever given to a girl group. International outlets and publications also included the album in their “Best Of 2022” lists, and their fans, called Hunnies, were thrilled with the debut. They had potential, but the breakout moment wasn't there... yet. It was only in 2023 that the rest of the world would catch up with their first comeback, Cupid.
